Goals >> Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
Target 7: Halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS.
In 2005, 4.9 million people got infected with HIV. The same year, 3.1 million died. The fight against AIDS is possible, but awareness, education, diagnosis and treatment are still not enough to achieve the Goal.

Target 8: Halt and begin to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases.
2,000 children die daily of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa. Malaria is endemic in many developing countries and it affects between 300 and 500 million people. 90% of the million deaths per year occur in sub-Saharan Africa.
