Cycle of cinema and debate: What there is behind what we eat?

The Red de Consumo Solidario organizes a cycle of cinema to reflect on the causes that have taken the international community to commit itself with the Goals of the Millennium and to debate about whether the GDM are the solution to the poverty.

From an exhibition of different movies and documentaries the Red de Consumo Solidario intends to talk about the international trade, of the north-south relations, of the agriculture and the feeding, of the hunger, of gender... and at the same time to provide a critical vision of the Goals of the Millennium and proposals of action. The Red de Consumo Solidario wants to reflect on the causes of the injustices of today to show and to build alternatives.

The cycle starts the 5th of October and concludes on the 23rd of November, and foresees the projection of movies and documentaries to three spaces: the cooperatives that the Red de Consumo Solidario has in Ciutat Vella and the Eixample of Barcelona and a restaurant of Calella de Mar.

Specifically, movies as “La pesadilla de Darwin” will be able to be seen, on the import of the perch of the Nile from the Victoria Lake and its consequences in the population of Tanzania; “Mujeres del Sur”, which goes into the daily life of the women of Burkina Faso, Bolivia and Malaysia; and "El Futuro de la Alimentación”, which talks about the genetically modified foods. To the cycle will also be able to be seen the documentaries “Cosechas amargas” and “El oro verde”, that talk about the effects of the agroexportador model to Nicaragua and of the growing of the soya, respectively.
